Fall Trends

If you know me, you'll know there's one thing that I was very excited about when moving to the Northern Hemisphere – finally having autumn at the same time as the rest of the world. A few years ago, I would practically force myself into cosy jumpers and scarves while carving a pumpkin and sipping hot chocolate, all the while sweating from every orifice in the blisteringly warm Spring weather.

Delightful imagery aside, one thing I look forward to every year is the arrival Fall fashion and trends. The little goth teenager deep inside of me yearns for the day when upbeat summer trends become utterly irrelevant and I can delve into a world of dark, moody colours and thick, heavy fabrics.

There are a few key trends this year that I'm really excited about. The following three are the ones I'm most looking forward to incorporating into my own wardrobe.

Who What Wear

Your Knight in Shining Givenchy

I'm sorry, are you telling me I can actually wear my own version of chainmail? I've dreamed of this day since I was a little girl forcing my friends to joust in the school playground.
I love the idea of clinking metal following me wherever I walk – and the fear that will grow in men's eyes as they realise I can not be stabbed.

The Good, the Bad, and the Fabulous

Ah, remember the day when your mother would let you hitch up your petticoat and drive the wagon while she used the shotgun to hunt some turkey? Me neither. However, I do love to pretend I'm a hardworking frontier woman when I take out the laundry and balance the basket on my hip.
This year's take on the pioneer woman will give you that vintage feel, sans the bedbugs and smallpox.

You-and-I sex
Unisex pieces have been popping up more and more recently. Maybe it's because people are realising that we don't need different clothes for different social constructs. Or maybe, it's because it's trendy and men's clothes are mother-of-god comfortable.
Either way, I will gladly throw on a pair of herringbone trousers along with a matching coat – if only because they're bound to have pockets.

Tayla Sassen

Hi there,

Hopefully you're here because you're actually interested in my page and not because you were looking for a blog that specialized in pictures of wolves. Although, if that is you, you obviously need some help with double-checking your spelling. That's where I come in.

I began freelancing as a copywriter, editor, and ghostwriter after graduating from the University of Cape Town and completing a 6-month internship at a very popular fashion magazine. I then moved to Busan, South Korea to work as an English teacher to about 600 middle school students who actually seemed to like me. My passion has always lain in words – I was once even grounded from reading because my parents realised I didn't give a crap about the TV.

Personal life story aside, I'm available to help you with whatever you need. I have an extensive knowledge of fashion, beauty, pop culture, and lifestyle and I'm able to work with SEO, Photoshop, and InDesign, to an extent. Throughout this blog you'll find snippets of work I've done for others, as well as ramblings of my own. If you would like to contact me, please do so using the contact information supplied on the right-hand side of this blog.

Best,
Tayla Sassen
